Kawangware Day Nursery

Kawangware Day Nursery, is a community owned school which has been running for over 35 years. The school has 5 well built classrooms with toilets, a kitchen and staff room and has always tried to provide education for the most needy children within Kawangware for either a small amount or free.

However, a fire in 2012 burnt down most of the school and destroyed all the teaching resources. This left only 2 classrooms opened for use with over 100 pupils from baby class to pre-unit.

The Thunder Foundation has repaired the classrooms and school structure including asbestos roof making the school a safe place again and for all its students.

The school plans to unite all the children from a young age whether they be disabled or not or come from different religious or tribal backgrounds (Watoto Pamoja). With our help, the school is now ready to provide an education for the most underprivileged and disabled children from the Kawangware.
